Stats: Terribly sorry about your young wife. Brain metastases have a poor prognosis and are usually fatal. That number they gave you is just a statistical average that may or may not apply to her. Depends on many factors. No person can know how long any of us has to live. Be with her and make her as happy and comfortable as possible whether she lives a day or a hundred years. God bless both.

Past info: Her oncologist likely did a ct scan of her brain and saw spots. Risk of developing metastatic disease depends on the stage of her original breast cancer. It would require a biopsy to confirm if it is breast cancer spread, or a primary tumor of the brain. Can have treatment implications. Would ask the oncologist these questions to help clarify.
