Need evaluation.: Sounds like you may have sprained it. Regardless, those symptoms are concerning and deserve evaluation. Doctor's exam, and maybe an X-ray or MRI.

Acute inflammation.: Ankles that feel like they are on fire, extremely painful and began without a history of trauma can only be a few things. If the ankle is swollen, has a red hue and is giving off big time heat, you may be having a gout attack. This is becoming more popular with women and is affecting even younger women. Regardless, gout or not, you need to have the ankle evaluated to get to the bottom of things.
