Variable: You may have a structural problem with your uterus that is not helped by the Mirena (levonorgestrel). I would check with the doctor to be sure placement is good or if an ultrasound is indicated.

Need to change: IUDs are often used as treatment for DUB or heavy bleeding. If the method didn't work, re evaluation is warranted to rule out infection, removal of the device and utilization of other treatment like a birth control pill.
