A member asked:

How to tell the difference between acne and a stahp infection? what are some indicators i could look for that would rule out mrsa from normal acne?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Difficult To Tell: Unfortunately, it is difficult to tell the difference between a normal pimple and one that is caused by MRSA. They can both appear as a red and swollen bump, be painful to touch, and be filled with pus. If you are concerned about a possible MRSA infection, you should visit with your doctor. He/she can prescribe a topical antibiotic such as mupirocin or a body wash containing chlorhexidine.
