If it occurs more than once or twice a month, you need to get yourself to the cardiologist (via family or primary care doctor) to get diagnosed -- usually with EKG, event monitor, or Holter monitor. Palpitations are caused by heart arrhythmia that could potentially be fatal particularly in your age group.
