See answer below: IF your symptoms are acute (recent onset) and/or associated with other symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, fever, fast heart rate >100, worsening pain), I would be concerned about possible blood clot to the lung (especially if you take BCPs) or other lung problem and would advise going to the ER. If pain is more chronic, then more suggestive of a neuro-musculo-skeletal problem.

Many causes. : U shd see your doctor and have yourself examined. U will need investigations like x rays of shoulder and a chest X-ray with some blood tests. See ur doctor as soon as possible. If the pain is severe u shd go to ER now.
