I give blood 3x a year. last couple of times i was a platelet donor and was badly bruised after process. i was told my veins are curved and it is hard to insert needle. is this common?

Bruise: No, it is not common. It might be just accidentlly bleeding.

No: You may be bruising for other reasons such as low platelets, but it shouldn't happen repeatedly because you donate blood. Are you on Aspirin or taking other medications?They may be contributing. Stop giving blood until you find the cause of the bruising.
