If tested for hsv 1 & 2 and hsv 1 was "indeterminate" what does that mean exactly? (hsv 2 was negative). never had cold sores ever.

Yes: It is good that your hsv2 is negative. Hsv1 will news to be retested in a few weeks to see if levels have risen to be positive.

Test inconclusive: An indeterminate test means that they could not confirm being either positive or negative for hsv 1. I wouldn't be too concerned, it might be a laboratory error. The fact that you have never had a cold sore suggests that you most likely are not a carrier of the virus.

Cold sore herpes: Hsv1 exposure is so common and so many of us have been exposed to it that i wouldn't worry. Exposure doesn't always equate getting lesions. In addition some patient don't get the typical external cold sore lesion, they get a non visible sore spot in the inner mouth. However, if you're really worried about this you can ask to have a more specific hsv1 test done in a few weeks to confirm if +.

Indeterminate: The test was neither positive or negative. There are many different reasons that this could occur. Have the test repeated and sent to a different laboratory for evaluation.
