Definitely...: ...Though the former is a serious part of diabetes as well. Your primary care physician can suggest the tests needed to diagnose or rule out either.

Yes: Diabetics are hyperglycemic because they have chronically high blood sugars. They only become hypoglycemic if their Insulin dose is too high or they forget to eat while taking insulin. Hypoglycemia happens to all if us and triggers our appetite so that we eat and raise our blood sugar. Extreme hypoglycemia can occur with some medical conditions. Get tested by your doctor to rule them out.

Family practice : You can become hypoglycemic and not be diabetic. Obtain an Insulin level. You need to eat frequent small meals. Increase protein and avoid carbohydrates.

Yes: Reactive hypoglycemia may occur after a high carb meal in non-diabetics, probably due to release of excess insulin. Hypoglycemia may also be seen as a precursor to diabetes when Insulin levels fluctuate. Avoiding high glycemic carbs & eating 4-6 mini meals of protein, good fats, low glycemic carbs help keep blood sugar levels more consistent throughout the day.

Measure glucose: Sorry that you are having these symptoms. The critical information needed to interpret them would be your blood glucose levels during the symptoms. If the glucose was below 70 and you were having symptoms then that would need further evaluation and treatment. If the glucose is not low during symptoms then there may be other things to look into.. Good luck!
