A member asked:

I have radicular pain l butt and lle. but i was told it's not "true" radiculopathy because my neuro exam shows normal sensation. ? i don't get it...

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Radiculopathy: means abnormal degeneration of a nerve due to impingement or constant stimulation from lack of blood supply etc.. For cutaneous or deep nerves, they usually carry both pain signals and sensitivity to touch, pressure, temperature, et. And when a nerve degenerates, you should have both pain (which is nothing but alarm bells your body sends to signal an emergency or injury) and sensation deficits
