Must be seen: If this lump in your groin is associated with pain, especially if there is redness or swelling nearby, it should be seen by a general doctor. Sometimes painful lumps are lymph nodes that have become inflamed due to regional injury or infection. Sometimes the lump itself is infected and in that situation may need excision.
