Periodic paralysis: There are a few different forms including thyrotoxic periodic paralysis (abnormal thyroid tests), hyperkalemic periodic paralysis (sounds like yours), Andersen Syndrome (paralysis is prolonged) and psychogenic among others. At this point you need evaluation by a specialist/neurologist, good family history, possible EMG, cardiac evaluation and poss. genetic testing. Good news is all have tx's.
