Not necessarily: The "normal" range for ca 19-9 goes as high as about 40 u/ml. Ca 19-9 levels can be elevated above normal for a number of reasons other than cancer too. Unfortunately, a "normal" level in a lancees cabcer patient also does not mean that he/she is cured. What is important is following the changes in ca19-9 over time. If this level is lower than it has been in the past it is great news.
