Minimize exposure: The sun stimulates melanin production. And if u cannot avoid the sun the skin will get more and more tanned. That is why as a general rule, people in the south of India are darker as compared to people in the north of India. Use of sunscreen may help but they are effective only for 2-3 hours and u will have to keep applying it. Any sunscreen available locally with an SPF factor of 15-30 may help.

Sun and dark skin: was well answered by Dr. Kumar. In addition, may i suggest that you enjoy your healthy skin, no matter what the shade. Putting too much focus on externals can only lead to unhappiness eventually. We all like ti look attractive, but cleanliness, kindness, etc. are the most important things in real attraction. Peace and good health. Meditation, yoga, and the like may help you to focus.
