Healing caps: Clean around the healing caps the same as you would around your teeth. Keeping them clean and free of plaque will maintain the health of the gum tissue. These are really issues you should ask your implant surgeon.

Wait 3 weeks: Initially use only the mouthwash, then after 3 weeks following your surgery it is important to lightly toothbrush or Q-tip the healing cap to clean the area and stimulate your gum tissue. Good oral hygiene is essential to good healing. Good luck!

Dental Implants: Most experts recommend not putting any direct contact (i.e. chewing) on the site of the implant for as long as possible. You can brush lightly, but do not get an ultrasonic brush near the site until it is fully healed. If the cap is above the gums, then it would be about six weeks of gentle care and soft foods, otherwise, ten to fourteen days should be enough of the gentle care and soft foods.

Wait until tomorrow: Wait until tomorrow to clean. Then clean with a q-tip and peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) if prescribed or just water. After a few days if partially healed you might introduce a very small bit of toothpaste. After 7-10 days you should be able to very lightly hand brush (no electric yet). Check with the surgeon for any specific regimen they want you to follow. Good Luck.
