Hamate fracture: It typically takes 8-12 weeks for a hamate fracture to heal completely, longer if you use nicotine products. 4 weeks of casting is recommended, followed by cast removal, range of motion and light strengthening exercises. It will take another 4-6 weeks for your motion and strength to return in the wrist. Would recommend against playing basketball until you have full motion and a pain-free wrist
