Capillary bleed: The usual cause of a subconjunctival hemorrhage is a burst capillary and these are not serious despite looking quite ugly and no specific treatment is needed. The blood is slowly absorbed over a week or so. However if there is associated pain or visual disturbance, consult an ophthalmologist to be sure.
