Try on, to check fit: One can try average, regular size condoms to see if they are fine or are loose. If loose, one can then try smaller, tighter condoms. Sometimes, one has to try different brands, because there isn't a standard sizing that is consistent between brands.

It does matter: and you are smart to try to buy the correct size condom. If they don't fit properly, they may not be effective at preventing pregnancy or STIs. Several charts are available online but most give measurements in width and length, not circumference. I think you could get the most help from reviewing these such as: condom-sizes.org. Good luck:)
