No need for fear!: I think you've been spooked by biased vaccine stories. The risk of allergy to vaccines (influenza or others) is extremely low, and the chance of a dangerous reaction is nearly zero. The risk your child will get very ill (or even die) from influenza is far, far higher than the possibility of a serious reaction to the vaccine. Discuss your fears with her peidatrician; I'm sure she will reassure you.

Flu shot: The flu shot is recommended for everyone 6 month of age and up to protect against the most common strains of flu expected that year. The flu shot is very safe, does sting and ache but allergic reactions are rare. I recommend it for all my patients. If she is over two years old and doesn't have asthma she could have the painless live flu nasal spray.

Mgt: If your child has an egg allergy, please let your provider know. Even with an egg allergy, many patients will still be able to safely receive the flu vaccine. I would suggest reviewing the side effects with your physician.
