Egd: Esophageal perforation after EGD is very rare and occurs acutely within days after the procedure. Clinical risk factors include difficult procedure, male sex, and patients over the age of 60 based on limited clinical evidence. If you have acute chest pain with radiation to the back or shoulder or acute vomiting, you should go to the ER right away.
