A member asked:

I am on antibiotics for strep. i am currently spitting up yellow phlegm seemingly originating from my lymph nodes. is this characteristic of strep?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If you have strep...: ...tonsillitis and there's pus or other junk on your tonsils, that may be what you're spitting up. Tonsils are a type of lymph tissue. Your other lymph nodes don't have a direct route to your throat. It's best that you spit this stuff out rather than swallowing it. If it continues after your sore throat goes away, check back with your doctor. Get well soon! Dr. Anne
