Possible sinusitis: sounds like significant post nasal drip
usually with allergies or colds the drainage is fairly clear
When there is color change in the drip it may indicate sinusitis If persistent or worsening you may need medical attention and antibiotics

Spit: May be related to a bronchitis or persistent post nasal drip. Do you have any of those problems. Chronic smokers usually have moderate amount of sputum production. If you have fever with this and have not been feeling well, see your physician to have your lungs checked out.

Post nasal drip: Brown and yellow does not mean infection,if you are working in a dusy environment, the mucous gets to trap, these particles, and the fine hairs,in nose Cary this to throat,at night we swallow fewer times(. That is why, alot of people cough and hack in mornings,)specially smokers, try nasal irrigation, with saline,if there other symptoms, like a cough, sinus headaches then you needs treatment.
