Infected?: A Bartholin gland is usually "lanced" when it's infected. This treats the infection, but the gland stays in place, and in these cases there is a very high chance of the gland enlarging and becoming bothersome again (not necessarily infected). The best time to completely remove an enlarged Bartholin gland is when it is not infected, so you may try for a more complete excision at this point.
