Reg Excercize & Food: If you have regular menstural cycles then your chances of increasing height has diminished. However,I do not think a special diet will help increase height. A regular regimen of excersize and a good normal diet with some extra proteins will help you maintain good health and in my opinion that will maximize your growth potential. Not worrying too much about it will also help. Wishing you the best.

Don't plan on it: Females who enter puberty at the same time as their friends stop growing taller at 16-17. If you entered puberty late, you might have more time to grow, and an x-ray of your wrist/hand could tell if you can grow more, but don't plan on 4 inches. Good nutrition, proper sleep and exercise will support normal growth, the opposite can retard it.

Height: At the age of 18, a height of 62 inches is very short if you are a male. For a female, it's at the 15th percentile which is between average and lowest normal. These are based on the growth chart developed by the national center for health statistics.

No: The russians have a bone-lengthening procedure but i would not recommend it. Will assume you are a man. Being short is regrettably a social disadvantage but you can remove this and put yourself at several other advantages (health, longevity, looks) by spending hard and smart time in the gym. If you are buffed, short isn't a problem. World-class gymnasts are short, and steve mcqueen was your heig.

It depends: Some males will continue to grow after age 18 (especially if it is common in the men of the family). The fastest growth period for boys is in the mid teens, but some will have a smaller second growth spurt between 18-20 years old.

Stature ?: Your statement says you are 1.87cm which in us terms is under an inch , so sad @ 18. If you meant meters, you fall in the tallest 10% of the adult male population. If the growth centers in your bones are not sealed you may continue to grow. Some do so into their early twenties. Some grow with such a steady pattern that they do notice a growth spurt.

A 18-year-old male asked:
Hi i was wondering if peak height pills work im 18 and 5'7 and want to be atleast 5'10. If it doesn't work are there any other way of growing?

Dr. Robert Kwok answered

No: Peak height pills are just over-the-counter supplements containing vitamin d, calcium, and some other vitamins. In the U.S., kids have adequate nutrition, and will grow to their peak genetic height without supplements. However, kids who do not eat/drink enough dairy should take vitamin d and calcium supplements. Getting enough nightly sleep and daily exercise can help growth. The rest is genetic.
