A member asked:

Er dx of torn ligament in knee. 30d later more swollen, spreading to thigh over knee. ortho f/u in 9d. if correct dx would i be walking/thigh swollen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Knee injury: Usually knee swelling will resolve over 4-6 weeks with an isolated ligament tear, such as ACL or MCL tear. If swelling persists, you may have additional damage in the knee, like a meniscus tear, or damaged joint cartilage. Recommend MRI of the knee to assess for these injuries.
