Yes: Herpes virus is present on the skin BETWEEN attacks when there is no sore at all. ORAL valacyclovir (acyclovir) taken at prodrome or as a daily dose will reduce symptoms and reduce viruses on the skin. Herpes is not spread in swimming pools in any case. Protect it from sun.
