Turmeric: I know this is a great antioxidant, but have not read any studies that it helps to reduce blood sugar levels.

Yes.: Turmeric curcumin is a known agent that decreases Insulin resistance and helps normalize blood sugar levels, when taken with diabetic diet and exercise. It is not a hypoglycemic agent and should not be used instead of proper medical management, though.

Not really: First of all, without piperine, a black pepper extract, turmeric is very poorly absorbed orally. Second, the therapeutic effects of turmeric are still inconclusive and is not the ideal way to lower blood sugar. A low glycemic index and load diet is far more preferable.
