Perhaps true.: We generally and technically need 6-9 hours of sleep, awakening on 90 minute intervals, I.e. 6 hours, 7.5 hours or 9 hours. This is based on the stage of sleep you'd be in upon awakening. You want to awaken while you're in a light stage of sleep rather than a deep stage. So you'd feel more tired awakening after 8 hours than after 7.5, for example.
