12 hrs of hypoxemia: could easily cause some symptoms of confusion, headache, rapid breathing with shortness of breath, etc., but there should be no long term effects from only 12 hours of hypoxia. Long duration hypoxia, such as from chronic lung disease, does have long term consequences, of course. But prompt normalization of your blood oxygen at lower altitude should prevent any adverse long term effects. Stay well!
