A member asked:

I've had severe sciatica due to a bulging disc to the point where i have lost most of the strength in my right leg. am i a candidate for surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Herniated disc : Herniated disc with compression of a nerve root in the lumbar spine can lead to numbness, tingling and weakness in the extremity. Over 6-8 weeks, there is a good chance that the disc can be reabsorbed, with resulting improved symptoms. If there is persistent symptoms at 6-8 weeks, surgery can be considered.
