Osteopath: On-going low back pain in senior male needs examination to rule out tumors, aneurysm, infection, herniated disk & Ankylosing Spondylitis. If no diagnosis other than "muscle spasm" try alternative therapies: If manipulation & acupuncture not immediately effective then massage, Aqua-therapy, biofeedback & yoga might benefit. Cannabis is helpful to allay pain and increase sleep. See an Osteopath.

See below: Low back pain is often a chronic condition. There are many conservative treatment options including medication, therapy, and sometimes injections. Surgery would be a last resort. Often the best way to treat chronic pain is to work on posture, exercise, modify diet. Seeing a physician would be recommended to discuss these options.
