Little Risk: There have been no Hanta virus infections reported in NJ and only 5 cases reported in NY on 2014. The illness is much more common in the West, particularly South Western U. S. Risk is mainly from exposure to airborne virus in old dwellings from rodent excreta. So your risk is negligible .
