I believe i punctured a vein on the top of my foot. the skin was punctured and now the surrounding area is very swollen and bruised. what should i do?

Stop the Flow.: Initially, apply ice, or an ice pack to the area. Mild compression and elevation(higher than your heart) will help stem the tide. Later, after the swell goes down, some moist heat, will help dissipate the bruising. Make sure that the cause of the puncture is not an immediate cause of concern for an infection, so keep an eye out.
