A member asked:

2wks ago sudden sore lump under skin on calf. skin is red also. not as sore today. no visible bite mark, could it be soft tissue tumor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not tumor: Soft tissue sarcomas are more common in thigh region then just under skin in area of calf. The redness suggests inflammation and pain in the area not uncommon with inflammation such as secondary to some bite or phlebitis in vein just under skin of area. A sarcoma would not start denovo with associated pain that then regresses in short period of time. If clinical dx indeterminate then bx needed.
