It could : we know that muscles have vitamin D receptors. Usually low vitamin D causes muscle weakness. However there are some patients that have muscle pain and vitamin D helps resolve that. Therefore this is a possibility, but I would see your physician, and possibly see a rheumatologist to make sure there is not another diagnosis. For instance we know people with fibromyalgia that have low vitamin D. . Their pain can be improved with vitamin D supplementation.
