Liver: If yellow or clay colored stools are caused by liver disorder, urine would be brownish and the whites of the eyes would have a yellowish tint. If there is irritability or inflammation of the gi tract, stools can be tan colored from rapid transit through the intestinal tract. Omit harsh roughage and if abnormal stools persist, see your physician who will order appropriate tests.
