Let me explain: Your mother could have osteoporosis and one or more fracture in the spine, take her to the doctor and have him check her and do an x-ray on her to if that correct, he may give brace or do something else to help relief her pain.

Have it evaluated: Find out why the back is painful in the first place. Is it arthritis? Is it a fracture from long term Prednisone use? See doc and get x rays.
