Physical therapy : Depending on the bone density scan, she may need treatment with calcium, vitamin D, a bisphosphonate like alendronate to stabilize her bone density. Physical therapy and daily exercise with weights are recommended. Discuss with your doctor. For pain, OTC Meds like alive and ibuprofen are helpful. She should also address any risk factors for falls as there is a greater risk of hip or back fracture.

Osteoporosis: Loss of lordosis and early degenerative changes are age appropriate changes. As to osteoporosis, this is very common in women (1 out of 3 women at the age of 50 and 2 out of 3 women at the age of 60 have it). Treatment depends on severity (T-score). Consult your PCP for best treatment (most commonly Vitamin D and Calcium)
