Not always: Utis may cause you to have burning, increased frequency of urinating or feeling like you have not emptied your bladder completely. Asymptomatic bacturia is treated in pregnant women to prevent preterm delivery but ignored in everyone else especially if a catheter is in place. So asymptomatic colonization can be ignored in non-pregnant if truly an infection, then pt will complain or act different.

Urinary Tract: Not necessarily. As a young doctor i learned very quickly that utis can be unbearable very quickly for women. Common symptoms are low back pain, fever, chills, blood in the urine, increased urinary frequency and burning with urination. Having a good relationship with your physician can lead to earlier treatment and recovery from this significant problem.

No: You can have a urinary tract infection without painful urination (dysuria). Pain occurs if the urethra is irritated form the infection, but if the infection is more in the kidneys or bladder you may not have pain. Could go more often (urinary frequency), gotta go right away (urinary urgency), or blood in urine (hematuria). You may or may not have fever, and urine may smell.
