Look at your stress: Often the things that are going on in our lives manifest themselves in our dreams. Try to look at things that you may be worried about in your waking hours, and deal with them more effectively. Take time to relax before going to sleep, and you can often "program" what you dream about somewhat effectively.

Talk Therapy: I hate to consider the thought, but things like this make me worry that you might have had some type of childhood trauma that your brain is trying to deal with. If your head is making you re-live bad things that happened to you when you were young, it could be the normal human way of figuring out unresolved conflicts. Find a therapist who can talk you through some possibilities or ways to respond.

Assess and treat: While i agree with seeking psychotherapy for recurrent nightmares - in no way does it mean there is an abuse or trauma history - suggesting this when not taking a careful clinical history often causes iatrogenic false memories - recurrences of anxiety and nightmares can occure w stress - and most people w/ adult anxiety disorders have history of childhood anxiety disorder. Find some good help.
