Follow instructions: Follow the instructions given to you by the Surgeon. They should answer all these questions. Typically you should wait about 5 days before straw and carbonated beverages. Lime dressing ,, flossing -- no problem. You want to protect the clot from food impaction and clot breakdown in order to prevent dry socket and delayed healing. Use common sense. Good Luck.

Now: It is ok to drink with a straw, but might I suggest a healthier selection than soda. You should be able to eat your salad with your special dressing, but watch out for croutons or anything hard, crunchy that might damage the extraction sites. You can also floss & brush now, but be gentle around the extraction sites for a few more days!

4 days after: Do not use straws for 4 days after removal of your wisdom teeth. The sucking motion can cause more bleeding by dislodging the blood clot followed by dry socket.

Post wisdom extract: 3+ days out you can begin to use a straw. I would skip the croutons and seeds on your salads. Stay off the particulate foods like nuts and chips that could cut into the sites. Let you comfort be your guide. A week out and your over the hump
