I do not think so but alcohol abstinence should be adhered in a patient with significant heart disease.

Alcohol does affect even though there are no specific reports of its effect on the valve tissue. My best advice would be to refrain from alcohol if you have had a problem requiring surgery. You should discuss this further with your cardiologist since he/she is aware of the indication for the surgery, the presence of any cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac enlargement etc. Good luck.
