Why does swollen turbinates cause pressure in head ?

Increase of pressure: Swollen turbinates can limit the flow of air/fluids in your maxillary sinus which can lead to an increase of sinus pressure. If your sinuses cannot drain properly then you will likely feel the effect that you are asking about. If you think that you may be developing a sinus infection see your doctor for verification and treatment.

Sinus Headache: This turbinates swelling causes the facial pressure and headache. It is common that many people with turbinate hypertrophy experience severe headaches. If your headaches interfere with your daily life or don't respond to OTC medications, it's time to see a primary care physician.
