Really should not: Be in severe pain. You should notify your doc to make them aware and he likely will have some suggestions for you like possibly applying ice, or allowing you to soak the toe........I am not informing you to do either without his consent, just informing you there are things that one can do if in severe pain.

Depends on procedure: If you had a permanent removal, 3-4 to "dry up" and scab over is not unusual. The pain is unusual. I assume you have good circulation to your toe? You may be reacting to a medicine you are putting on it? If pain increases &redness develops call your dr. Soaking in warn soapy water may be soothing? Neosprorin plus may help with discomfort. Hang in there. It should feel better soon.
