Int Auditory Canal?: Does IAC=internal auditory canal? An MRI of IAC is often used to help diagnose hearing & balance problems (hydrops, Meniere's disease, tumors of the inner ear, possibly infections in the bony parts). There's no reason to be nervous - you generally hear loud "clacking" in the machine which can be a tight fit. But many people undergo MRI without any problems every day. Ask ordering doctor for reason
