Possible herpes: your baby should be fine Continue breastfeeding. no kissing of baby's face until cold sore is gone. Check w/ your physician about using Denavir (penciclovir) cream on cold sore - ? Safe for breastfeeding mom.

Cold Sore-: There is no contraindication to breast feeding if you have a cold sore. It may rather help the baby to get immunity from you through breast milk. Just maintain personal hygiene, cover the sore on your lip or face with petrolatum jelly or similar, clean yourself, wash hands before nursing.
