No cause for concern: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, there is no cause for concern if the child does not have symptoms, the monocyte count is of no significance.

Viral infection?: These values are only mildly abnormal, and any number of minor viral infections could do it. Why was the blood count done? It's an unusual test in an apparently healthy 5 year old. Follow up with the doctor who ordered the blood test and follow his or her advice. In the meantime, this doesn't seem worrisome. Good luck!

Normal: Monocyte count being low is not a concern , it does increase in certain illnesses though.
