You'd need to state: The total white blood cell count & your child's health status (e.g., fever or other signs of illness) for a more specific answer. One of the more common causes, in general, is a viral illness. Ask the doctor who examined your child & ordered the lab tests to clarify his/her interpretation & its clinical significance.
