Genetic: Bardet-biedl is a common phenotype seen with mutations in any of several different genes. Patients tend to be obese, often with learning troubles, retinitis pigjmentosa, maybe polydactyly, maybe hypogonadism, some other birth defects maybe. It's not curable but the symptoms can be treated & patients can be quite happy.
