A member asked:

What kind of docotr can i talk to about dealing with bardet-biedl syndrome?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nephrologist, opthal: Bardet-Biedl syndrome is inherited (autosomal recessive, both parents carry the gene.) Findings include kidney problems, hypertension, eye problems (retinal dystrophy), mental retardation, obesity, more than 10 fingers, and small testes (in men). The kidney problems can lead to kidney damage over time. Being followed by a nephrologist (kidney doc) and ophthalmologist (eye doc) can be worthwhile.
